Today’s discerning consumers want products that meet high standards for quality and taste. Culver Duck’s goal is to produce a White Pekin Duck that meets and exceeds those expectations. We begin with our own strain of the White Pekin Duck breed that has been improved over many years of development and testing. We hatch the ducklings at our own state-of-the-art hatchery in Middlebury, IN. Our processing plant uses processes that produce a clean and wholesome duck, in accordance with all USDA food safety standards. In addition, with our own Quality Control & Assurance Department as an oversight to Production Department, we have our own high standards of quality control that regulate our production. We carefully package our duck in bulk or shrink wrapped bags. The processing areas, freezer and storage coolers and shipping areas are always monitored for proper temperatures to guarantee that you will get the best duck possible.

Culver goes to great lengths to raise healthy ducks. Our strict standards make the difference between our duck and other duck products available in the market. Our ducks are sustainably raised in large spacious houses and given access to roam freely to eat and drink as they want. Our contract producers are the individual families that raise our ducks on their farms. They must follow a very specific and stringent set of rules and guidelines set by Culver Duck Farms, Inc. in order to raise our ducks. The criteria cover requirements regarding animal health, humane handling and nutrition.

In order to maintain the relationship between Culver and our contract producers and ensure that our ducks are raised in a way that meets and exceeds our expectations, Culver maintains a staff dedicated specifically to our contract producers called “Flock Supervisors”. These individuals are the eyes and ears of the company and spend their time on the road visiting and working with Culver’s 120+ family producers to ensure that their ducks are raised and handled to our exact specifications.

We take steps at every level to make sure each product that is produced under the Culver name meets our customers’ expectations. It starts with our pedigree and genetics program, breeder operation, hatchery operation and meat duck grow out farms, then, continues on to our processing facility. We take a proactive and preventive approach to ensure you always experience a safe product with outstanding quality and taste.

Our focus on animal welfare is unique. We are not only dedicated to the well-being and humane handling of our ducks; we also consider our producers the stewards of our ducks and require that they follow strict protocols which are regularly audited to ensure proper treatment at all times.

Our producers are not the only people who take care of our ducks. Our humane standards follow the ducks to the processing facility where the live haul, receiving and slaughter processes are tightly controlled, verified and audited. From the beginning to the end we assure that our ducklings and ducks are handled following humane standards certified by Traceable Down Standards (TDS), an independent, third party humane certification group.

Your confidence can extend from how we handle our ducks and where they come from to the food we produce. Culver’s processing facility is Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certified. We verify that the duck in our packages is the duck that we say it is through the third party source verification program British Retail Consortium (BRC).
